Sec 35 Disposable Blades

Disposable Microtome Blades

SEC 35 (Sections of Excellence and Consistency) is a low profile blade which is perfectly suitable for paraffin sections both in rotary and sliding microtomes. Additionally the blade also provides best results for cryo sections. There is no need to use different blades!

It is made of high quality steel and has a unique, newly developed coating which guarantees a long life time with superior sectioning results. The blade is both coated with a hardening layer for excellent thin sections of high quality as well as with a sliding layer which prevents compression and allows superior ribboning. High quality with a long life time are a trade mark of the extraordinary blade.

 Why Retraction?

Retraction has become increasingly popular in recent years for the following reason:

By utilizing cooling or freezing spray to improve Paraffin sectioning it became apparent that rapid expansion and contraction of  the tissue caused defects produced by the specimen scaring the surface of the knife edge during the return stroke.
